Lilia Taiwanese, from Latin - (Lilium formosanum)

Taiwanese lily (Lilium formosanum), or "Formose" lily, has great similarity with the long-flowered lily, both externally and with features of its biological characteristics. Both species are the most thermophilic of all lilies ...

Lily

Lilia "Formose" (Lilium formosanum) is also a Taiwanese I grow from seeds. Seedlings raised in winter in room conditions, landed in the ground with the onset of stable heat. With the usual care, they developed well, and by the end of the summer they pleased with fragrant white “mushroom” flowers.

In the first winter, the young bulbs remained in the ground, they were covered with a 3-inch layer of leaf, and later - with a thick layer (40 cm) of snow. Nevertheless, about 20% of the plants died, and the survivors did not bloom.

The next winter, the bulbs were stored in the sand in the basement at a temperature of 2-3 degrees. It gave good results. Now I cultivate a lily that way. Planted in the spring in the soil of plants bloom in my late August, early September, give 5-8 buds on each stalk.

Lily "formozskaya" - one of the most "early", seedlings bloom in 10-11 months. Vegetatively reproduces well. When the top of the stem is removed in the leaf axils, buds (bulbs) are formed, in which the roots and the first leaves grow on the stem.

For reproduction I take 3-4 bulbs from a cellar in December and plant them in a pot. When the shoots reach 45 cm, pinch the top. I grow up shot pokkolukovichki in the room, and in the spring stand in the ground. Despite its tropical origin, this lily withstands its autumn frosts without damage.
